Terms of Service

Last updated August 3, 2026

These terms govern your use of Collegator. By creating an account, you agree to them.

Eligibility

Collegator is intended for high school students researching colleges and scholarships. You must be at least 13years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission to use the service, especially before subscribing or booking a session with a consultant. You're responsible for keeping your account information accurate.

Subscription & billing

Collegator offers a paid membership, billed either monthly ($20/month) or annually ($199/year), with a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins automatically and renews on your billing period until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your Billing page; you'll keep access through the end of the current billing period. Payments are processed by Stripe; we don't store your full card details.

Refunds & cancellation

Cancel during the free trial and you won't be charged at all. Subscription payments already made aren't refunded for partial periods — cancelling stops future charges and you keep access through the period you paid for. Unspent mentor-session funds are refundable: contact us and we'll return whatever hasn't been spent to the card you paid with. If a booked session doesn't happen (a mentor no-show or a technical failure on our side), contact us and we'll make it right with a refund or a re-booked session. Nothing here limits any refund rights you have under applicable law.

The consultant marketplace

Collegator lets students book paid sessions with independent mentors: college consultants and SAT/ACT tutors. Mentors must be current college students, or high school graduates within the past five years, and are reviewed before appearing in the marketplace, but Collegator does not guarantee the quality or outcome of any session. The platform retains 20% of each booking and the consultant retains 80%. Attempting to arrange payment for sessions outside the platform to avoid this fee is not permitted.

Most students on Collegatorare minors, and mentors agree to conduct rules that reflect that: sessions, messages, and payments stay on the platform; taking contact with a student off-platform is not permitted; and sessions must stay professional and on-topic. Every session ends with a written recap the student (and their linked parent) can see. Anyone can report a mentor or a concern from the mentor's profile or the report tool, and our team may review chat messages, recaps, and reports to investigate safety concerns or session quality. Violating these rules is grounds for immediate removal from the marketplace.

AI features

The essay coach and resume builder use AI to provide feedback and suggestions. These tools are meant to support your own writing and judgment, not replace it. You're responsible for reviewing and editing anything before submitting it as part of a real application. Collegator does not guarantee admission, scholarship, or any other outcome based on use of these features.

Your content

You own the essays, resume entries, and other content you create in Collegator. You grant us permission to store and process it solely to provide the features you use (e.g., sending essay text to our AI provider to generate feedback).

Acceptable use

Don't use Collegatorto harass others, misrepresent yourself, attempt to access other users' accounts or data, or interfere with the platform's normal operation. Mentors must additionally follow the conduct rules above for working with students.

Disclaimers

Collegatoris provided "as is." College admissions decisions, scholarship awards, and consultant advice are outside our control, and we make no guarantees about admissions outcomes. College and scholarship data is provided for informational purposes and may not always be complete or current. Always confirm details directly with the school or scholarship provider.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Collegator is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including decisions made based on information or feedback provided through the platform.

Termination

You can stop using Collegator and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
